RosettaNet Overview

RosettaNet (RN) is a consortium of more than 400 of the worlds leading Electronic Components, Information Technology, Semiconductor Manufacturing, and Solution Provider Companies. RosettaNet is a self-funded, non-profit organization. As a consortium, all member companies work together to create open e-business standards for use with trading partners on a global basis.

By establishing a common language -- or standard processes for the electronic sharing of business information -- RosettaNet opens the lines of communication and a world of opportunities for everyone involved in the supplying and buying of today's technologies. Businesses that offer the tools and services to help implement RosettaNet processes gain exposure and business relationships. Companies that adopt RosettaNet standards engage in dynamic, flexible trading-partner relationships, reduce costs and raise productivity. End users enjoy speed and uniformity in purchasing practices.

RosettaNet standards have been developed with the collaboration and expertise of many of the consortiums' members. The standards include data dictionaries, implementation framework (RNIF) as well as XML based business message schemas and process specifications commonly known as Partner Interface Processes (PIPs)

RosettaNet PIPs can be considered a superset of Internet transactions as compared to the existing EDI transactions. Their use results in server-to-server XML messages, transmitted over the Internet. PIPs provide the ability to automate on a real-time basis, allowing information to be simultaneously exchanged among several trading partners along the supply chain.

Arrow is one of the founding members of RosettaNet organization that actively participates in developing standard for RosettaNet Platform.
